The
Pulitzer Prize for Fiction
|
The Pulitzer Prize for fiction is awarded
annually for the best work of fiction published in North America. Its past
recipients include Edith Wharton, William Faulkner, Willa Cather, Harper Lee,
Ernest Hemingway, Carol Shields, Michael Chabon and Marilynne
Robinson. In 1977, Thomas Pynchon's
Gravity's Rainbow was selected by
the nominating committee, but rejected by the Pulitzer Board due to content
they found obscene.
