The Man Booker Prize is awarded for the best
novel written by an author living in the British Commonwealth. It is the
premier literary prize in Great Britain and the British Commonwealth at least
equal in prestige to the Pulitzer Prize. Past winners include J.M. Coetzee,
A.S. Byatt, Ian McEwan, Peter Carey, Margaret Attwood, John Banville and
